ajcollins80. I have had this problem on several Astra & Vectras I found it was always an issue with the compressor connector. If you turn a/c on and then wiggle the connect and wiring, see if it starts up. If it does just disconnect tue plug and bend the pins a bit. Then reconnect it.

They originally quoted me £780+ but after speaking with VW head office and taking my full VW service history in to account (my car is an '06 and out of warranty) they reduced the bill to £130. Unfortunately the parts are on back order so it could be a while before I get working air-con again but still £130 beats £780 any day of the week.
The most common fault is the pressure switch it goes porous - this is situated on the LHS when looking into the engine bay. Other items could be defective but when it's re-gassed get them to add the dye to allow leak detection This link shows the price of other items in the system including the switch!
We have a golf and jetta 56 plate jetta with econ button 57 plate golf with ac button we never press econ on the jetta and leave air con on these are both diesels and tbh it makes no difference to fuel economy at all in fact the jetta is better on fuel and returns 600 miles to tank were I get 520 in the golf lol

Mine was alright for years until a stone went throuigh the condensor. Most likely it's got a leak. The easiest check to do would be to put 12 volts directly onto the air con compressor clutch,if it pulls in and blows out cold air then it's fairly likely it's the HP/LP switch that knackered.
Hi, I have a VW mk5 Golf 1.6 FSI 2004. The problem with it is My heaters dont get very hot AT ALL, it just blows luke warm air when on the highest setting. It does not have climate control. I have check a few things like, Coolant level (head gasket is fine) Thermostat (fine) The heater matrix pipes are very hot and so is the actual heater rad.

Yes fuse no. 22 is for the Air blower for the climatronic system and has a 40 amp fuse. This fuse is not blown. However, fuse no. 4 (heating, air conditioning, electrically adjustable seats) being blown is what is stopping the blower motor working.
